Sea Loft

The owners, having sold a considerably larger home in Sea Pines, were looking to downsize in square footage but upgrade in terms of chic, modern design and current home technology. They purchased this octagonal, podium ‘Sea Loft’ originally constructed in 1973, due primarily for its excellent location adjacent to Harbor Town as well as it’s breathtaking view. The property had been basically untouched since built. The owners requested a full remodel (gut) as well as an addition to maximize both the interior space as well as the deck. The goal was to create a modern home that preserved the original aesthetic while maximizing indoor and outdoor living. While this wish list seems relatively simple, it was in fact, quite challenging, not only due to existing eight sided structure but the fact that there are numerous hurdles and constraints working within a floodplain and satisfying the scrutiny of two Architectural Review Boards as well as the Town of Hilton Head. All challenges were overcome and the stunning results added the maximum allowable square foot addition on the ground floor and more than doubled the amount of outdoor living space. In addition, the new home is totally FEMA compliant in regards to flooding and hurricane proofing. Highlighted features: European style kitchen with all high-end European appliances, high-end European lighting and extensive top-of-the-line landscape lighting, custom designed home audio system, very high end finishes, including handmade tiles and custom door hardware, Canadian maple floors, as well as a selection of European, designer furniture and fabrics. The entire home is fully integrated and operable from any hand held device or tablet. And what to say, but, ‘wow’ about the custom octagonal and wraparound decks. This project offers the best of indoor and outdoor living that Hilton Head affords.
